John Crook guided myself and another to the summit of Mont Blanc! I can’t recommend him enough-his judgement and skill are immediately apparent and his excellent manner never falters - the essence of an excellent guide in my opinion.

With my happy team touring in the Vanoise.jpg
My son Tom (14) and I just had an amazing New Year adventure with John in the Briancon area. First a days back country skiing at La Grave, where John guided us up and down some amazing lines picking the plums that were there and then a 3 day hut to hut tour around Mount Thabor, which was fantastic. Great scenery, brilliant huts and great skiing. John really found us a great tour perfectly suited to our needs and was very supportive and encouraging to my son, who was making his first forays into ski touring and mountaineering. John was great fun to hang out with and really made our father and son trip a huge success and a real memory that we will always cherish.
5*’s in every way.

John is an amazing guide. Not only professional, but very sociable and helpful. After spending a week with him and summiting Gran Paradiso, Mont Blanc and my first multi pitch climb I couldn’t recommend anyone else. I will definitely plan new projects with John in the future!

John was everything you would want in a guide. Professional, patient, thorough, understanding, and knowledgeable. I can’t imagine a better experience under the circumstances. You won’t find a better guide anywhere. It’s impossible to say enough good things about him.

Awesome guide. Personable and knowledgeable. Super trustworthy when you need him most on the mountain!

John will take you on the adventures you only dreamt of and bring you back, safe and sound, with stories of granite faces and beautiful glaciers. Skiing, climbing, mountaineering, John does it all to the highest standard and is a real adventurer, the genuine article. Highly recommended.

I’ve been guided by John on a few ski touring trips, including in Chamonix and La Grave, plus a truly amazing adventure exploring the Caucasus in Georgia.

First priority - I definitely feel safe with John. He is very knowledgeable and calm, which is essential during those inevitable moments when conditions are tough and you feel at your limit on the mountain. He plots challenging but fun routes and always sniffs out the best snow for the day’s conditions 🤩

He has a strong focus on client satisfaction for all aspects of the trip and ensures that the group is consulted in any decision making. He’s great to get along with and I highly recommend him!

Not only is John and excellent guide, he’s a total gentleman. He was part of a team of guides that lead a group of us up Castor, Pollux, Briethorn Traverse and the Matterhorn this year.
John has such a calming personality and takes time to explain every detail when asked.
He also lets you win at cards when you’re passing time in the mountain huts. Lol.
Top bloke

Spent a few days with John this week in and around Zermatt including climbs on the Breithorn, Castor, Pollux and the Matterhorn. Excellent guide, great personality, bags of encouragement and all round good guy....just don’t leave your jelly babies unguarded ;-)

Incredibly knowledgeable. Very safety conscious. Encouraging but not pushy. Also, a really nice bloke to spend time with. When our planned trip became impossible due to weather conditions John worked out an even more enjoyable alternative. Looking forward to another trip together.

Great week out on hard rock and big mountains. John is a great climber and excellent guide. Smooth moves and great rope work builds a lot of confidence on difficult pitches and hairy stances. Good fun and a lot of laughs - pushed me to be better.

Thanks John for such a wonderful week. As someone who is scared of heights and early mornings I would do it all again, thanks for making me feel very safe and most of all laugh

John is an incredible guide. He guided my brother and I up Mont Blanc (3 mont traverse route) then i recently spent 3 days rock climbing in skye with him where he helped me climb my first VS route. He is knowledgeable, motivational and an all round good guy.
He’s helped me become hooked on climbing and is always there to help with advice.
Definitely will continue as my preferred guide for future adventures and i couldn’t recommend him enough!

Just back from a fantastic week ski touring in the Silvretta. I can’t recommend John highly enough. He is knowledgeable, patient and encouraging. He found us some amazing snow and some challenging summits. He certainly enabled me to achieve far more last week than I ever thought I would. He is completely professional but also great fun: joining in with our singing on the way down the mountains and being a great partner in crime for schnapps-drinking. I’d love to tour with him again.
